Seven Spirit Bay

We decided to pamper ourselves for part of our holiday.  Mary was in desperate need of some pool time and some relaxing in the sun and I was up for some beach walking and birding in a new locale, so we conjured up Seven Spirit Bay out of the travel brochures and made our reservations several months ago.  It was a wonderful place to rejuvenate and for Mary to leave the hospital behind for a while.  We haven't had that many Fantasy Island type adventures, but this has to be one of the best ones.  It is remote, warm, surrounded by beaches and all sorts of northern fauna and flora and the food was out of this world.  We even indulged ourselves one afternoon and split an hour of message time!  At a little below eleven degrees south, this was the closest to the equator we had ever been except to cross it in an airplane!

We were met at the "International Airport" by the managers of the resort and were driven back to our "habitat" in this Jurassic Park bus.

The beaches were lovely....

......as was the pool.

I was up to my eyeballs in new birds....

....and Mary had a pool all to herself much of the time.

I got to see my first Australian Owls, here a pair of Southern Boobooks that roosted every day near the lodge.

The lodge was tucked into the bush and well kept by the grounds crew and guides who did double duty.

On one guided nature tour, we were introduced to bush tucker including green ants, green ant tea, a few seed pods, flower petals and here, the honey that these flowers produce every night.  We just licked the honey off....
