Fiji

While we were sitting around wondering what to do and where to go, feeling a little sorry for our state of affairs, Global Medical must have felt our sadness because they called and offered to send us on a week's vacation in the Fiji Islands at their expense.  We decided this was quite a good idea and agreed to go!  It was a week of pure indulgence as we basked in the sun, read books in hammocks, snorkeled, sailed, walked on the beach, looked for new birds and shells, drank fruity, tropical drinks with funny names, ate wonderful meals and danced to a great island band.

We stayed for one night in Nadi, three nights at the Treasure Island Resort and three nights at Shangri La's Fijian Resort.  Treasure Island is an old resort on a very small island with limited space.  The Fijian Resort was a huge resort with about a thousand rooms, three pools, several restaurants and bars, a coffee bar, shops and a waterfront activity building with staff!  The Fijian people were very friendly with greetings of "Bula!" whenever we met anyone.  Bula is sort of a combination of hello, have a great day and welcome to our island.

Just so you don't feel too sorry for us, you can check out our misery at these sites for the resorts where we stayed:
