Joe's Woodworking 2012

I am starting to try to put into practice skills I am gradually acquiring from taking classes at the Marc Adams School.  One of my favorite projects right now is hollow vessels.  Here are a few that I just finished in January.

This is a piece of quilted myrtle from Tasmania.  I blew the top out hollowing it, so I added a piece of Brazilian rosewood and continued.  This was turned green, dried and returned about three months later.  The finish took another week.  This piece of Eucalypt burl was turned green in four hours.  It's finished with a carnuba wax polish.
This is a piece I turned in a class.  It is spalted maple with an air brushed interior.  Some of the spalted areas were airbrushed with a gold paint.     Here is another piece from the same class, this one in walnut.  It was a bit tricky to dry out with that huge knot, but I managed to seal it pretty well and then fill the shrinkage with brass filings.  The inside and rim are air brushed with some green/gold paint.
A piece of maple, turned green, dried, turned again and finished with a bit of green paint airbrushed around the rim.  A cherry vase with green/gold airbrushed interior.  Also turned green, dried and returned.
