On January 24th we revisited the Lake Pedder area and this time took the gravel road south to Scotts Peak Dam and the south end of Lake Pedder.  It is 34 km to the dam and a few more on to the end of the road and an observation area with 360 degree views of spectacular mountain and lake scenery.  Along the road are two nice campgrounds and the trailheads to the Mt. Anne Track and the Port Davey Track.  We walked on the Port Davey Track for a couple of hours and enjoyed it immensely.  We may have to do that one.  We'll see.  Also along the road are many areas designated as apiary sites.  They are full of hives this time of year as the leatherwood trees are in full bloom and the bees were busy making leatherwood honey, one of the finest tastes imaginable, a VERY strong honey, but delightful.

The views from the road along Lake Pedder towards Scotts Peak Dam are just breathtaking.

We couldn't believe we could just hop in the car and see scenery like this along the road two hours from our abode!

The rugged terrain of this area has a wonderful feel to it.  It's almost like retreating to another world.

The mountains and meadows along the road and track invited us to keep walking to see around the next bend or over the next hill.....

The forests along the Port Davey Track, at least at the beginning are more open, but there are still the impossible burls and growths on the trees with moss coverings giving the trunks the otherworldly look so common here in Tassie.

Isn't this a pleasant track? We just hated to turn back, but we were out of time and had no gear.  Later......

Fairies' Apron flowered along the track.....

The leatherwood blossoms.  Aren't these delicate flowers? The smell is delightful as well and is just like the honey tastes!

Joe along the Port Davey Track.  Ever the birdwatcher (twitcher)!  I did add to my life list while we walked.
